An Innovative Community Based Solar Project

This innovative community based solar energy project was developed in Maryland by a committed and persistent group of citizens who came together to create a local solar power generation site!

This solved many problems for the individuals involved who either did not have the funds themselves to generate solar energy, or who live in areas where their roofs do not receive enough sunlight, or are not the right angle to generate sufficient power.

They found a suitable site which is located at their local church, and formed an limited liability corporation, University Park Community Solar LLC. Individual member interests were purchased by the members, which funded the installation and maintenance of the solar panels by a local company.

The church purchases solar power from the LLC and the LLC sells Renewable Energy Certificates which are earned from generating renewable energy. Please visit their site at University Park Solar.
