With a little care, the Earth can heal from the current imbalances that we have created which are causing such widespread climate change. She can't do it alone though. The Earth needs each of us to do our part!

We need to make some changes right now in the ways we are living. Our Earth really needs us to pay attention to what we are doing, and to find newer, gentler and more sustainable ways to live.

The good news is, that most positive changes that we make in our lives that are more environmentally friendly will also be healthier for us!

Going Green Starts With Each of Us

Living green ask of us that we take responsibility for our presence on the planet, and that we become aware of the impact of what we do.

Going green isn't just about doing or not doing things. It's about our consciousness, and paying attention to the effect that our actions have on other living things.

For example, if we put a fertilizer on our lawn that is filled with chemicals, our lawn may look nice, but what about the birds and other wildlife that live in our yard?

And how does that affect our beloved pets who may nibble on the lawn, and snack on the insects and birds that live there?

Everything on the Earth is connected, and as we become more conscious and aware of this, then we can make choices that will support a healthy planet ... which will help our health too!!

Ten Simple Ways to Go Green

These are some very simple ways you can help the evironment which will also help you to save money!

1. Use paper and not plastic bags at the store. Better still, use a cloth bag that you can wash.

2. Use energy saving light bulbs.

3. Unplug electrical items when not in use.

4. Set your thermostat a few degrees higher in the summer and a few degrees lower in the winter.

5. Wash laundry in cold water.

6. If possible, dry clothes on a clothesline outside or on a drying rack inside.

7. Use water-saving faucets in the bathrooms.

8. Use low-flow toilet.

9. Instead of buying bottled water, put a filter on your kitchen tap.

10. Use renewable energy (or green energy) wherever possible.

Green technology can help us to find new ways to live so that we can move forward, rather than going backwards. To go green today means that our future generations will have a healthy planet on which to live and to thrive!

• Biofuels are fuels that are made from plants such as canola, corn or even grass! Some are made from vegetable oils, or from alcohol derived from plants. When I lived in Brazil, we fueled up the car with "álcool" which is what was available at the gas stations.

• Geothermal energy is energy that comes directly from the center of the Earth. If you've ever been to Yellowstone Park in the U.S., you will see a perfect example of the power of geothermal energy in action at the amazing geysers and hot springs!

• Solar energy as we know :-) is tremendously abundant and comes from the sun!

• Hydropower is electricity that is derived from moving water and is a popular renewable energy source in the U.S. and other countries.
  Tidal energy (or wave energy) relies on the energy created from the pull of ocean tides and the waves of the ocean. It is a more predictable energy source than solar or wind energy.

• Wind power uses the energy created from wind which is harnessed and converted into electricity. It nicely compliments solar energy, however like solar energy systems, wind power systems can be expensive.

Why We Like Going Green With Solar Energy!

Solar energy is one of the most abundant forms of clean, renewable energy. With the right systems, it can be used in many locations even the more challenging environments.

Solar energy can also be easily integrated with other renewable energy systems.

Going green with solar energy is becoming more affordable as the demand grows, and for some people is one of the best ways to save both money and energy in the home. Because solar power produces electricity, you can even run an entire household on it!
