Renewable Energy Jobs

What are renewable energy jobs? This is a relatively new job sector, but one that is quickly becoming an area of in-demand expertise.

The research into and the development of the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, thermal, and water, have created an entirely new industry, which in turn is generating new green job opportunities.

Currently, statistics show that jobs and careers in renewable energy account for nearly 2.3 million people. That seems like a very large number, but with the continued development of our natural and renewable energy sources, this number will inevitably increase to accommodate the need to service both commercial and residential arenas.

The Future of Green Energy Jobs

What does the future hold in the area of renewable energy jobs?

According to research conducted by the Worldwatch Institute, the availability of green jobs will increase to numbers that will boggle the mind.

For example, it is estimated that there will be over 600,000 jobs available in the solar thermal industry, over 300,000 jobs in wind energy, roughly 170,000 jobs in solar and photovoltaic jobs, and nearly 1,000,000 jobs will be available in the areas of biomass and biofuel industries.

These numbers are bound to be encouraging for anyone interested in getting involved in the renewable energy industry!

Types of Renewable Energy Jobs

  • Wind power
  • Water power
  • Geothermal power
  • Solar power

Green energy jobs are the up and coming career opportunities now and in the coming years, especially as the use of natural energy sources increases across the world. Solar power jobs are likely to be ones most in demand, but jobs in wind energy, geothermal energy, and water energy will be a bit more specialized and focused, which could translate into more annual income for those areas of expertise.

These jobs are not just for those considering college and which career they should pursue. Many people already working in the power industry or engineering industry can supplement their knowledge with further education and have an excellent chance at working in one of these green industries.

Preparing for Renewable Energy Careers

Don't underestimate the value of your experience, since that often has the potential of creating a solid foundation of knowledge for learning more about a renewable energy career.

Anyone interested in renewable energy jobs should look for college courses in which they can enroll, but also look to green energy companies who may be offering hands-on training in the areas of solar, wind, water, and geothermal energies.

These eco-friendly career paths are just the right choice for those who enjoy being outdoors and working to help the environment. Careers in renewable energy are looked upon as socially correct and beneficial for working toward an ideal, a better world, and a cleaner world for future generations.

How many people do you know get to do something they love, help the environment and make a living doing it? Green energy jobs have this very potential, so if you're interested in making a living doing something you love out of doors, check out the amazing opportunities within the growing renewable energy industries.
