Solar Roadways - An Innovative Idea for Solar Powered Roads

Solar Roadways is a small company in Idaho that was recently granted funds from the US Department of Transportation to develop their innovative vision of creating a highways system powered by solar energy.

This would be a huge benefit to the challenges involved in developing electric cars, as one of the limitations of using electric vehicles is the ease of finding charging stations.

The idea of developing solar power roads is to cover road surfaces which currently are made of asphalt, with solar road panels made of a glass that is strong enough to be driven on, solar panels and electricity distributors.

They are even thinking about energy efficient ways of transporting the solar road panels by using them to power the trains!
